In 10 days, moving as fast as a Jalen Brunson come-back in the 4th quarter, Hunters Point was tapped by FanDuel to harness the Knicks phenomenon and give back to the NYC fans - anyone wearing any Knicks fan gear got a free OMNY card to get to the game/viewing party. No Knicks gear - then you get a free Knicks FanDuel branded merch. And a lucky few got the surprise of a lifetime with an appearance by Knicks legend John Starks. All while DJ Steph Cakes and our BA team kept the line and crowd dancing and pumped for Game Night.
We pulled off multiple experiential firsts: Pulling permits and securing a killer spot in Times Square - right by one of the most iconic subway entrances (thank you NYC!!!!). With the FanDuel team we created a custom backdrop when it seemed experiential resources were already tapped out all over NYC. Our epic drive to secure 8,800+ OMNY cards each with a free ride on the re-loadable card took a small production army of 9 production assistants working over 250 hours in 3 days. A small fraction of that - to the tune of 7,000 shirts and 2,200 drink koozies - were distributed to a very passionate fan base. Not including the ESPN press coverage, how about the 7,642,581 social impressions generated by the activation!
